The Llangollen Canal
This video captures the magic of a spectacular journey on the most beautiful
of all the British Narrow Canals. Starting in the Cheshire plain, it climbs
steadily through the heart of Britain's dairy farming country to the pretty
market town of Whitchurch in Shropshire.

From here, there is a 23 mile long level pound across the marshes and mosses of
the Welsh Borders or marches, as it hops in and out of the principality.
At Ellesmere, the canal passes right between the lakes of Shropshire's miniature
lake district, where you can moor right at the centre of one of the finest
beauty spots in England.
Now the canal enters the most spectacular scenery of all as it tunnels beneath
the Welsh mountains, and strides across the river gorges on tall slender legs.
The highlight of the journey has to be the passage across Telford's Aqueduct at Pontcysyllte, 120 feet above the valley floor.
Finally, the canal hugs the edge of the Dee Valley as it slips quietly into the
town of Llangollen at roof top level.
